How to do Halotherapy at home?

What is Halotherapy?

Halotherapy is basically a recreation of Speleotherapy, a treatment that was practiced in salt mines of Eastern Europe since the early nineteenth century to prevent and treat respiratory and skin problems.

In the former Soviet Union, researchers gathered to develop physical therapies such as halotherapy in order to avoid the costs and side effects of therapies that use drugs. Most drug therapies for respiratory diseases have only palliative effects and many have significant side effects.

Thus, a physical therapy such as halotherapy was required. It provides excellent results, doesn’t have side effects and can be obtained at a modest cost, which makes it a very attractive type of alternative medicine.

In fact, Russia became known as the world leader in the creation and development of increasingly effective physical therapies. Most research and clinical trials so far reported, mostly in Russian newspapers, declared halotherapy effective in the treatment of asthma and chronic bronchitis.

Where you can get Halotherapy?

Halotherapy is beginning to be increasingly used in thermal baths and spas worldwide. It creates a relaxing, smooth and comfortable atmosphere for clients, while caring for its therapeutic needs. It is one of the most effective methods to prevent, treat and rehabilitate respiratory, skin or allergic diseases and is also recommended for smokers.

Halotherapy at home

While it’s great that thermal baths and spas provide this kind of therapy, the costs attached to visiting those places is far too high, especially when there’s a far cheaper and equally effective option available to do halotherapy at home – salt pipes.

Salt pipes are recently becoming extremely popular in the UK, especially after being showcased on TV by Dr. Chris Steele during “This Morning” of ITV. Take a look at his video below:

The main benefit is the price since you can get a salt pipe for just £19.95, which will allow you to get all the benefits of halotherapy at home.

So if you decide to try halotherapy through salt pipes over Spas you will:

  • Save A LOT of money
  • Get therapy in the comfort of your home
  • Possibility of carrying it with you if needed

Recommended Salt Pipe Brand

The brand I personally recommend is Salitair. This is actually the original brand showcased on TV and has by far the cheapest price in the market (£19.95) while providing you the best possible quality.

On top of that, you have multi buy discounts available if you want to make use of them (useful if you are buying for you and someone else at the same time) and the refills are extremely cheap as well since you will be able to renew your salt every 6 months for just £5.

  1. I have a question…I’ve been researching salt therapy options for home but I couldn’t find any information about the effects of salt on your home appliances…since salt is a highly corrosive mineral I am wondering what it may do your home content on the long run?

    • Hi Kasia,

I believe you are a little confused. 🙂

The salt you will use for the treatment will be inside the Salitair salt pipe so it won’t affect any of your home appliances at all.

      Hope this helps!

    • Hi Kim,
